Book Worm

There is nothing in this world our Olivia loves more than to sit and read. She will read and read and read. When mommy and daddy are burned out from reading to her (yes, it's horrible of us - but it happens), we will talk her into reading books to her kitty, and that will occupy her for another hour. If there is a book in the room and an adult, you can count down the seconds it will take before she asks them to read to her, whether she knows them or not. Nursery leaders, preschool teachers, her friends' moms, babysitters ... we always get the same response from them. "Wow! She REALLY loves to read!" Code for: "Your kid won't get off my lap for the entire 2 hrs. of nursery/playdate/etc. Please save me!"

I love that Olivia loves to read. We've read to her since she was a newborn. And now that she is talking and reading a FEW small words (red, stop, help, exit, Olivia) and sounding out the phonetics, it is even funner. Nonetheless, you can only read "Somewhere in the Ocean" so many times in the week before going crazy. So, we have at least one big library day a week, sometimes two, to load up with 30-something books. I wondered at our last library visit how long it would take us before making our way through their entire children's section. We've actually got a great library, so it may take a while, thankfully.
