Happy Birthday to America!

We had an awesome 4th of July weekend with some good friends we've made here, Allison & Vaughn Fish. They were nice enough to take us with them (not any small task when you've got a pregnant lady and a newly potty trained 2 yr. old in the back seat) up a few hours northeast to Joseph City, where Vaughn is from and share their yearly 4th of July celebrations with us. We were so glad to get away for a bit and escape from the heat, but most of all to spend some time with our friends before our move to CT in a few weeks.

The first day they gave us a tour of the "cracks" a very cool place out in the middle of nowhere that has huge deep cracks in the earth. We had fun exploring and throwing rocks down them to guess how deep they were. Later we had an awesome "Mexican bar-b-que" (Mexican b/c of the food, not the guests, I learned :) and then hit the fireworks, where we sat RIGHT underneath. I have never been so close to fireworks!
Saturday we had a relaxing morning. Brandon and Olivia got to ride a horse for a bit, then we drove past the Snowflake temple, visited a new colt, ate some more delicious Mexican food, and finished the night with a rodeo and more fireworks. Unfortunately, noone made the buzzer on their bull ride, but it was still a good show.

Sunday morning we headed back home and arrived almost all in one piece. It was a great weekend! Thanks again to the Fish's and Happy 4th of July everyone!!
